How Is His Pedigree?
Could you just tell me what you think? Im not very good with this kind of thing...

mlkarel2010 08-03-2008 08:52 PM

on a scale from one to ten with one being a :( and a ten being a

I'd give him a 6.5

He doesn't have amazing bloodlines really close to him, but he has a number of big names on there.

Poco Bueno
Doc Olena
Jet Deck (sire of Easy Jet)
and Leo again

and if you look at Mr 89 er's pedigree you will see Leo and King on there again, but that's REALLY far back

and Beaver Creek has King in him too....

Those are the super horses. The big time legends. Too bad they are far back, but they are on there a lot so I gave him a higher score.

He's definitely got a lot of line breeding in him and you can trace him back to King and Leo TONS of times if you follow all the lines back, and they were super horses.

Ok my explanation is over now. I love QH pedigrees :D

Thanks! That makes sense. I know hardly anything about what constitutes good bloodlines. As far as I understand, they are mostly cowhorses right? I used him for cows and barrels and he does phenomenal

So line breeding is....a good thing?

Yes all of those are pretty great Cow horses. Leo was technically a racer, but his offspring were big cow horses. Jet Deck was a racer too. The others were famous cow horses and halter horses. They also are responsible for a lot of the great reiners out there too.

Line breeding is good because then you have a lot of the powerful lines. Most of the time it works, but when it doesn't then it's inbreeding, but I'm pretty sure it worked and it's far enough back now that you're boy is fine.
