My Horse Won't Trot
I ride a 19 year old Throughobred who hasnt been riden in a while. I Lunge her before I ride, and she walk trots and canters on the lunge line. She walks under saddle fine but as soon as I ask her to trot she starts bucking or rearing. How can I stop this and get her to trot smoothly?
I would check EVERYTHING, saddle, bit, teeth. Anything and everything you can think of, make sure to rule out pain either within her or caused by something you're using or putting on her! My gelding has recently muscled up and his saddle was pinching, he did the same thing. Now that I have a new saddle that fits he is just fine!
Have you ruled out saddle fit being an issue?
Is this a school horse? your horse? will this happen for anyone who rides her?
Does the saddle fit?
I would check that fit first. Reason? If she's fine on the lungeline then throws a fit when you're on her back, it is likely that the fit is off, putting pressure on her back and causing her to hurt a lot.
Yup the saddle fits just fine
Have you been lunging her in a pen then trying to ride in the open? Maybe get someone to lunge her with you on her to see if she tries then.

This is my horse that I jut started riding, no one else rides her except me
I lunge her in a small ring and ride her in a big ring
Shes fine at the walk so i dont think thats a problem, and i post while walking so pressure isnt a problem
