Has anyone tried??
Has anyone tried Nutrena's High fat performance pellet that comes in a plain black bag? I have and it is a great grain. Has helped my skinny STB so much. Just curious as to whether anyone else has tried it?

I have had a lot of experience with grains. My horse has a very sensitive gut and he is a hard keeper due to medical problems. I would not recommend the Nutrena High Fat Performance Pellet. It is not from the original Nuterna company, it is a knock off of a knock off. My barn manager went behind my back and put him on it claiming that is was the same feed. Within 2 weeks my horse was out of control and dangerous to be around. He had lost weight by the third week and the vet was concerned. She said that due to the low grade materials in the feed and the fake sugars and high carbs in it my horse was literally having and allergic reaction to it. He was "high" on the artificial ingredients. 4 days after I put him on a different grain he was starting to calm down and by 1 month on it my horse Buddy was back to his normal self. I do not recommend Nutrena High Fat Performance Pellets and neither do most vets. Glad it worked for you though.

I have not used that feed but I'm glad it's working for your horse! =] My Arab is a bit of a hard keeper with his weight, too. I put him on Purina Ultium (also a weight builder) last summer when he got too ribby and I love it; I was worried about it making him too hot, but his energy level has stayed around the same.
