Older horse - foamy mouth

I've noticed that my older mare produces foam when she eats. When she grazes she gets a little green froth around her mouth. She's always been sloppy with her pellets. There's no blood, head shaking, discomfort or weight loss. There's no odor or bad breath. No nasal discharge. Her appetite is good. There's no clover in the pasture. She doesn't drool unless she's eating. She had her teeth checked in January and they didn't need floating at that time. I'm going to check with the vet just in case she may need it done now. I should probably start soaking her pellets, too.

I was just wondering if this may be common with older horses? I know her teeth are getting pretty worn. I thought maybe extra salvia was due to the extra chewing an older horse may need to do?

Both my 8 year old appy and my 35 year old mare do this.... the appy is so bad that at time i have to laugh she looks like a rabid dog :-)

I would check her teeth again just in case something wasn't missed. That is often a main symptom that a horses teeth need floating :). Otherwise if nothing is wrong it could just be an odd quirk.

She is producing saliva to help swallow her food. Mine always drink after their pellets. One drools like a baby when eating.
