Soon To Ride Again
I had taken around a year and a half of lessons four or five years ago, when I was eleven and twelve, and then I took refresher lessons two years ago. But since then, I've ridden once. I still know how to ride (I had a good instructor), I don't own my own horse, but I'm hoping to "lease" a horse at a local stable. I'm going to somehow wheedle my parents into agreeing, and then I'm going to be heading out there every day. But, before I actually begin working with the horse, is there anything I need to do in order to get ready?
I'm dieting (having gained a lot of weight in the past few years), and exercising, but horseback riding is a lot more strenuous then stairs. Any suggestions?
I want to be able to get up on that horse and ride, but truly be able to work with the horse. I'll let you guys know where the horse is in training so I can truly ask you about that...
Good for you for working hard on choosing a healthy life style :D if only the rest of us had as much dedication!
It sounds like you are already on the right track. Nothing would stop you from reading up on horse care and general horse management (riding etc). Would you be able to start going to the barn now to watch some lessons, befriend some people at your local stable and start being around horses now?
I love your attitude :D
I'd love to start going now, but there are two slight problems:
1. No real way to get there. It's several kilometers outside of town, and though I can easily ride my bike during the autumn months, it's too long and too hot for me to ride my bike during the summer months. And my parents are really busy.
2. I'm afraid of some of the people out there... I have a phobia of adults I don't really know... :P
I have a ton of books, so I'll read those. :)
books are always a great form of information for horse care!!!, and the inter net too.....is there any one in your town that rides at the same stable or at least heads that way every so often?
There's one person I know about, but I have no idea if she still goes... and... well... I'm a bit afraid of her... :P
