My horse, TBx or just TB? (Picture heavy)
 

Brock was sold to me as TB, not by his breeder (he was backyard bred and I believe the dam was a TB, that's all I know). No branding, certainly wasn't bred with racing in mind. He does have high withers and a longish back like many TBs, but a few things nudge me into thinking he's a TBx. Firstly his head isn't quite the typical TB head (but that wouldn't make me think twice on its own). Secondly, his feet are very large, much larger than I've seen on a TB before (and I've worked with and ridden TBs for years) and his legs are not the usual slender TB legs. Thirdly, he's by far the most intelligent TB I've ever met (not saying they're stupid by any means, but he taught himself how to undo ropes, slide bolts and undo clips in about a month).

Also, I've had one vet tell me he looks like he's been crossed with something heavier, and an instructor say he had a touch of QH about his face. I certainly think the heavier influence comment sounds about right - a Shire/TB/ASH at the stables looked so similar to Brock I embarrassed myself a few times by mixing them up when they stood together.

Anyway, I'm probably totally wrong, but I'd love a bit of input.

As you can probably see - profile straight tending towards Roman, but quite narrow. Big feet, and large ears (mule!!).

So confused. Probably is just a TB that belongs on Fugly Horse of the Day :-P but I'd greatly appreciate comments :)

Maybe I'm losing my mind but I see Quarter horse crossed with TB =/.

Oh no that means I'm not losing my mind because he certainly doesn't look pure TB to me. He doesn't move like a TB either.

My guess would be Appendix (QH x TB) too!!!!

defintally not full TB.Has a larger set horse. His neck and head put me towards shire looking or something around there.

Awe, he's not fugly, I actually think he's really pretty:) Anyway I agree with him possibly being a TB/QH cross.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Nice to know I'm not just imagining things. I did a Google image search of appendix horses and there was a lot of similarity, way more than with a TB. So I'll tentatively list him as that from now on.

Aww, I guess it was just that he looked so different from an OTTB that he looked kinda funny. But now I'm seeing him as an Appendix he looks more normal!

I actually see something Iberian in his head and neck, so I would lean toward TB x Andalusian or something like that.

Oh, Chiilaa, that'd be awesome! I adore Andalusians and Lusitanos. I'll tell him he's part Iberian tomorrow and he'll get his "prince" on. I might try growing his mane long too.

Oh and his tail is very thick and quite frizzy. Matches my hair lol.

Now that i have looked at it a few times he looks very andulsion to me!
