if this is not right go ahead and move it else where not sure where it should go lol:oops:
ok i am looking for a new car and my dad is looking for a new truck since the old one is getting tempermental.:-|
i would like a suv/crossover type vehicle with pulling possibilities encase the trucks wont be around.
now the equinox 2012 has a gvwr of 5200/5300lbs?
my horse trailer is registered for 5000lbs but the most it weights with my horses is around 3500/4000lbs with 2 horses in it.
would you think the equinox would be able to sustain a long drive with the weight of the trailer? or the constant usuage of short rides with such weight? or do you think it will utlimately ruin the crossover faster then it should?
now the reasons for the equinox are because of the 30 mpg hwy so not to shabby mileage and has a good amount of space inside and i can have a sunroof :p vs a truck with 20 give or take mpg no back storage that is covered permentantly enless buy a cover...
then you have the cost difference the equinox with everything i would want in costs about 32k give or take on the place and my bargining skills. the truck is over 50k and even with my bargining skills i wont be able to drop that rate to a reasonable amount.
would traveling with the crossover and trailer be any more/less dangerous driving with horses then a truck? what other complications could this lead to??
so what is everyones opinions on this... honesty is key and if you think this is a crazy idea pls explain so i may get a clear idea of the negatives
It has a max towing capacity of 3500 lbs, with the towing package. Any crossover should not pull a horse trailer. Not enough vehicle weight. If you want to pull a trailer you should have a full size SUV or truck.
The maximum towing capacity of an Equinox with everything you can possibly get to increase towing capacity is only 3,500 pounds, and if you are looking at 30 mpg, you are probably looking at the 4 cylinder, which will onlyu tow 1,500 pounds. Personally I would never tow with an Equinox. For the same price tag you can get many many more suitable vehicles.
Good gas mileage and towing vehicle are normally mutually exclusive...
what vehicle suggestions do you guys have?? very curious
and the 30 was based of the v4 and not the v6 they offer :(
I'm not a fan of GM but my bf's entire family uses GM vehicles for towing. Since the suburban is built on the same frame as the truck, I would choose that. But the mpg will suffer greatly.
very true .
and it doesn't have to be a gm my dad is just a gm guy so i have never ventured out of that other then my vw passet lol any truck/suv suggestions would be great
I personally love a Ford. I would definately either choose the expedition or the suburban. But I would prefer to haul a trailer with a truck. Just because there's bound to be stuff you need to haul that you wouldn't want in the carpeted cargo area.
If money wasn't a problem, I would go with an f250. I know many people don't like ford but that's ok :)
if i get the truck it would be a 250/2500 no 150/1500 ..
i will have to look into fords i guess i little more.. daddy is not gonna be happy lol
I love my F250!
If you're hauling, go with the biggest truck you can afford to buy and keep. It's better to have "too much" truck than not enough.
I've seen many Yukons haul loaded 2 horse trailers with no trouble too.
