Its a dieing sport. Its also one of my favorites. I'm part of the American Jousting Alliance, and have had more fun getting knocked off my horse than I ever thought possible. Anne seems to get it, and shows off when she hears me celebrate. I haven't been able to joust in almost a year, since my ex won't give me my lance or armor, and a storm killed my target :( as far as I know, I'm the only jousting "trainer" in my area. (I got a certification for it from the alliance, but I've never had students for strictly jousting, just do it as a fun thing) I first got interested on trying the real thing after we had a jousting tournament in my summer camp nine years ago.
So who else has tried jousting? What's your opinion on it? Any body seen any good matches?

I've never seen it in person...well...yes I did. Once, in Las Vegas, at one of those medival themed dinners. Anyway, I wasn't aware that people did this as competition until those shows aired on TV. I also learned that there is a trainer about an hour from me in Jackson, MS, that trains people for jousting and competes. I'd love to watch a real match but I don't know of any that happen near me.
Jousting is the Maryland State Sport! But, i'm not sure if it's the kind you're talking about. ;)
Ours needs no armor, and you don't go head-to-head like in the movies.
