Lacing on a chestnut Arabian mare
Last summer I leased a mare who had lacing along her back (or the giraffe I think some people call it) and it seemed weird to me. The owner says it's just her genetics but the farrier wasn't so sure and he thought it may have been from a previous injury or something. She did have some back problems that the chiropractor had to "fix" (I'm not sure they were ever really fixed). My point in all this is: what do you guys know about this? I only want to know because I'm curious about it and it seemed a little odd to me. What do you think?

Oh, and I was curious if you think they are related or not? I forgot to say that in my original post :)

I've seen several Arabians with lacing., and it's generally associated with the sabino gene.
If you check out the thread "She is bay, right?" there are two photos of Arabs with lacing.
