I also want to say that this fire alone has burnt over 200,000 acres and is still burning uncontrollably. It is also heading straight for my house, and we are getting ready to evacuate.

Prayers coming your way.

I think our whole state is on fire right now. 3 more started just yesterday. None in our valley but the smoke from other fires makes it impossible to even see across the valley. The sun is always that weird red color now and everything is covered with bits of ash. Not much fun. I can't say I hated the snowless winter but I'm hoping for TONS of snow this winter.

They have ban most fireworks in the valley this year. About ten years ago, after a dry spring, there was a huge fire. Hundreds of deer, sheep, and cattle were killed because it moved too fast for the animals to even move out of the way. They are really worried about a similar situation this year.

Fires are such terrible, unpredictable things. We have been without electricity for a week or so now and it's probably going to be this way for a long time. This summer is going to suck.

Ugh, we JUST had a forest fire break out half a block away... It only burnt about 400 acres, but it still did some damage. The amazing firefighters finally got it under control. Its been SO dry here! Like, no rain in FOREVER.

This was it...

Jeez... luckily no fires in NZ but a ton in CO where I used to live :/

The bad thing is that Colorado is taking up ALL of thefire fighters... So only the local people are on this huge ass fire...

And the huge Colorado fire is only 44k acres more than ours... and if you add all of the huge fires together in Montana, it is well over 300k. It's funny how Montana is just being shoved to the side... -sigh-

By the way, the fire has died down a little but there still isn't any containment and the electricity came back on but it'll probably go off again soon like it has been. The lines just get burnt again right after they're put up. This is a terrible deal. It is so smoky here. The moment you walk outside, it is instantly grey and smells so bad. And that's not the worst of it.
