Sunny's training schedule and journal.

Disclaimer: This is intended for my records, and as a way to keep track with the days I ride/train. Therefore, it is going to be extremely boring and I don't recommend wasting your valuable time reading it.

So, my phone has been officially destroyed. My phone's calendar was the way I kept up with my training schedule and since it is now out of commission I am moving my "calendar" to HF!

Since Sunny is a youngster I am big on consistent work. I have been majorly slacking in the consistency department so I am hoping to get back on track. I am making a schedule and sticking to it!

I will make a weekly schedule that will denote what days/times I will ride/train and what I will be focusing on during each session. I plan to ride a minimum of three days a week, weather permitting, preferably four. I would also like to incorporate two days of ground work. Sunny will have 1-2 days off per week.

We will see how it goes! :D

Saturday, July 7th:

I went to the barn with the intention to ride after I finished working....when I realized that my reins are destroyed (long story). So did I just give up and go home? NO! We worked in a rope halter/reins. Wasn't perfect, but we atleast got some exercise. She is still bracing. I asked a knowledgeable bystander and their conclusion is that she's not moving well enough off my leg. I need to be working on turns on the forehand/haunches. I agree!

We also popped over a few tiny cross rails for fun. Turned out to be not so fun, so we're going to keep holding off on that for awhile!

Monday, July 8th:

I was feeling absolutely horrible today--still am, actually.
So, I didn't ride. But, I did lunge Sun for a little while. Boy, was she frisky. Bucked going into the canter, lots of cow kicks. She's in heat, so what should I respect? Gotta love the mares.

Wednesday, July 10th:

I was supposed to ride yesterday but it was pouring rain, along with lightning, so I passed.

Today I had obligations so I worked with her on the ground on turn on the forehand. She's picking it up fast!

Thursday, July 12th:

It was raining, so I took her in the round pen and lunged her for just a minute and then got on bareback and worked on turn on the forehand.

Friday, July 13th:

Pretty much the same as above but also worked on a calm trot.

Well I suck, but I am jumping right back into this because some of Sunny's holes in training are starting to peak through!

We went on a long trail ride today off property so she will have a couple days off from riding. I also bought a new saddle that shouldn't be here until next week. Nonetheless, here is the schedule.

Thursday March 14th: Ground work. Side passing and desensitizing.

Saturday March 16th: Under saddle. Side passing. Moving off my leg.

Sunday March 17th: Under saddle. Staying in front of my leg.

That's all for now as I am not sure how next week will go; first week back after spring break!
