Went to see some Spanish horses today
Today my dearest mother and I went on a horsey adventure, call it a date :P We missed yoga last week so of course we needed to catch up!
She got an email about a herd reduction at a PRE farm only a measly 3 hour drive away so we took a day trip. Of course there was also lunch offered to us so who could resist!?
We showed up and looked at the horses (6 geldings) and got to play with the super cute foals!! We decided to try the oldest horses; the 2006 gelding and two of the 2007 geldings under saddle as it is technically my mother we were out there looking for :P
And thus begins my first ride ever on a Spanish/baroque horse!! We started with the 6 year old. He got round penned for a bit and I hopped on, and holy what a different ride from my horse! A very moderate stride, easy to sit, responsive! A very nice ride for an amateur. Then onto the younger geldings who did not actually steer at all so I rode them in the round pen. Nice gaits, expressive, but easy to ride! The bay horse was nice, I think it's him my mother is interested in but we will have to see what the boss (our coach) says first! Of course with the younger horses I will either have to sleep for a few hours less a day and put some riding on them or we will have to find a suitable trainer/rider for a year or so. But it wont be hard, the horses are a pleasure!
If anyone is looking for their next "amateur friendly" horse I would highly recommend finding a PRE/Andalusian/Lusitano breeder in your area and giving these horses a chance. Nice temperaments, sensitive (so not for a beginner, but you don't need to kick and kick), and a very smooth ride. And did I mention fancy!? Definitely eye catching horses.
We'll see what happens with these guys but I might be posting about a new addition to the family soon!
WAIT A MINUTE!! Where are the dang photos? WHERE???
What, no pictures? You tease!
How exciting; please keep us posted. And get pictures! :-P
Yeah, where are the pictures!?
Unfortunately, no pictures! We have video, perhaps I should upload some??
Umm...YES! Give us moving pictures. Now!

We shall retaliate if you don't post videos ASAP!!
Well, where's the dang video? You're dangling carrots here!
My horse is an andie/oldenberg mix, and he is just so amateur friendly... Despite being green, lol. Super forgiving, very smart and utterly comfortable! He'll plop around if you don't ask for boldness, and then he just becomes energized!
I was always told an andalusian is a big fancy car... But you gotta turn on the engine first!
