Costumes for Halloween?
So our barn is doing a Halloween festival, and I need to come up with a really creative costume for me and my male palomino. I was thinking something like a cowboy and cowgirl (with some costume cowgirl Halloween costumes for me and a hat and "duster" for my horse)? Or I was thinking a knight and noble steed (like this if I can somehow figure out how to do armor that is light enough to ride). So what have you all done in the past? Any suggestions?
Dorothy and Toto....
In the past, I have done an Angry Birds (and the Angry Birds pigs) themed one. A lot of people seem to get a big hit out of it.
This year I am planning on going as Pippy Longstocking. I heard that her horse was white with black spots, but I will have to work with my chesnut. I am planning on wearing one paddock boot and one tall boot with bright red pants, and a crazy sock with the paddock boot. I was pippy a while back and had a headband with two braids sticking out, my mom is going to attach them onto my old helmet so it looks like I have braids sticking out. I think I am going to wear a bright colored crazy shirt as well. I am planning on taking some of his braided knots down and leaving some in. I unfortunantley cannot do anything with his tail because he hates having it fussed with. I am planning on sewing a bunch of random fabric scraps on a piece of jean and laying it over his saddle pad. If anyone one would like to use this idea feel free too. If anyone has anything to add to my idea. I was thinking having my stirups a different length or doing something to my reins.
In the past I've dressed my mare up as a Witch, a Clown, a Knight (borrowed costume), a Unicorn, and a Carousel Horse. I've dressed my gelding up as a Knight, a Court Jester, and a Ghost (never used that costume, though, because he looks too much like a KKK horse, even with "Boo" written on his sides...).
Feel free to use any of those ideas if you want to and if you need help, message me. I'm pretty creative.
I'm not doing anything dress-up wise to my horses this year (not enough time), but next year I'm thinking about turned them into a Pirate and a Leprechaun.
