To Roach, or Not To Roach? That is the question!
My dear mustang, Rowan, being the goober head that he is, decided that his lovely, thick mane was just too bothersome, and proceeded, in the course of a week, to rub the center out. So now he has a lovely thick mane at the top and bottom, and ugly scraggly hair in the middle....so here is the question: to roach or not to roach? Would he look weird if I were to relieve him of his oh-so-bothersome locks? Give me your opinions! I posted a few pictures that you can hopefully see how his neck looks, some of them are from winter and he's a bit fuzzy. :)
If it looks really bad, I would say just roach it. I roached Jubilee's last year because it was full of burrs and all uneven. Personally, I don't really like the roached look (some people do). I love long, pretty horsey manes. :P But it grows out pretty fast and makes it all even.
Keep his mane!!!!!!
I don't think it needs to be roached- I like his mane just fine. :)
Ah, we have a pony that rubs out his mane sometimes, too. xP Silly boys. The roached mane works quite well for us and it grows back very nicely. Rowan has a nice neck that's definitely not skinny, so I'd say go for it. Roached probably will look beter than odd uneveness. :)
baby oil moistens the skin and makes it less itchy.
-- keep the mane. hes a mustang -- hes supposed to look like the wild west :)
I'ma HUGE fan of roaching. I'm going to say roach it. If you are not happy with it looking scraggley a good roaching will tidy him up quite nicely and then you can let it grow back out. Even if you don't like it roached its not permanent and you will know for the next time something like this happens! Oh...we always leave the forelock when we roach...i think it gives the horse personality and you avoid the military look! :D
