Info needed about foals

Hi,
A friend of mine has got a foal due in a couple of weeks, she knows a fair bit of what to do, has the vets number on speed dial, and will have somebody there with us who has had foals and foaled down before.
But just wanting info on what to expect, what first aid stuff that we need there ect ect from people that have done this before.
Any tips would be great just for me so that i have a bit more of an idea of what to expect. aghh so excited :D
Thanks

I dont think there's much here on first aid kits etc but its full of valuable information, definitely worth a read.

I strongly recomend that, she gets ahold of a few books, maybe your local library?? There is a very good book called "blessed are the foals" also the book "blessed are the brood Mares" or something like that!!!

advice

If the mare has had a foal before and had people near her during it then I would just keep a watchfull eye and definately notify the vet if anything looks suspicious. but if your mare has never had a baby before then you should know they have complete utarian power which means if you spook her or make her nervous by hovering over her she can stop right in the middle of it! i know crazy huh i had a mare that tried to go into labor one night and it started thundering... she hates thunder, she quit right in the middle o it and about 2 weeks later tried again... guess what another storm, lol I know she had the worst timing but she quit and tried again in another week and had the filly in my personal picture. My vet told me that sometimes they have complications doing that and she was lucky so be careful not to bother her.
