Breed worthy stallion?

Spyder 08-10-2008 02:28 PM

Your Yuotube link is wrong...should be

I know nothing about this type of horse so who knows...he may be or he may not. Without seeing any offspring I tend to withhold judgement.

If you think the pic in my avatar looks familiar that's because that stallion is my horses sire.

I already assumed that. Who is the dam?

ScoutRacer 08-10-2008 04:58 PM

Her name is Eliza and she is an Arabian. I am looking on the net for info. about her but I cannot find anything.

So this sire and dam were mated for what purpose? And did that purpose come to fruitition?

If not then the stallion may not be breed worthy.

One of my requirements is the offspring be as good or maybe better than it parents.

The only exception I make is that the breeder cannot control the actions of a horse bought and even the most talented baby in the hands of a trail rider will simply not ever realize its full a good stud owner will do their best to discourage this result.

Ok I just looked up the papers that I did not know I had...

Can you tell me where I can look up the bloodlines online

Scouts - Dam's registered name is Hwsweetlittlelies and her registration number is 1A320113 in the Arabian Horse Registry Color - Chestnut Type - Pleasure

Hwsweetlittlelies's - Dam is Hwfirshcream
Hwsweetlittlelies's - Sire is Maxxum - PtHa no. 369594

Scouts - Sire's registered name is Fames Sonata and his PtHA registry listing no. is 102849 - Color and pattern Bay Tobiano - Type Pleasure

Fames Sonata's - Dam is Raven Melody - 77690
Fames Sonata's - Sire is The Color of Fame - 71024

I want to see if my 500 dollar horse is worth more than 500 at least his breeding

Ok I found some of the family tree of Scouts Dam here is the site

family tree -

And here is the family tree of Scouts Sire

I also found this site of Hwsweetlittlelies and Mickey aka Scout her 2007 foal

Spyder 08-10-2008 06:28 PM

So you have the foal featured in that 2007 video. Nice foal.

Here is what I see that is right and wrong.

Sire Saddlebred/Arab bred to Saddlebred/arab. At least they are consistant and not adding some other breed into the mix.

Foal is quite nice and is showing more of his daddies way of going than moms.

While breeding is a match, the way of going is not. Not only would you try to breed type to type...I feel gait to gait is also the way to go. The mare is flat kneed and the sire has quite a high knee carriage. I would have preferred to see the mare bred to a nice also flat moving stud to enhance something the mare has rather than go directly against it.

The foal now is not as good as the sire and or dam and may not do that well in the "park" type classes under saddle. Under regular English ( not park) the knee action is too high. So the poor foal is just not good enough to excel in either end of English. In Western his action is not desirable either.

So just what are your plans for this yearling?

I hate showing so def. not that. I'll pretty much use him for trails/speed events/jumping none of which I'll do seriously more less for my fun and his fun. I was just curious to find out about this because I think that he (scout) could have been sold for much more. The lady who bred and owned him did not have enough money and her barn went under and had to give away some horses. The lady who got scout for free sold him to us for $500 so the way he price came about was not in the normal fashion.

I see what your saying about his gaits being diff from his sire and dam, but to me a person who is not interested in showing... means very little to me.

I looked up Scouts great sire if that is even a term and to be honest the dude looked fierce. If your interested here is a picture. I think it's cool how all of the stallions that go back in Scouts family tree all resemble each other.
