My Horse Is Smarter Than I Thought!

So yesterday afternoon, I took 2 popsicles out for my boys. (They LOVE popsicles!) Jasper usually takes small bites and breaks it up until it falls to the ground- no problem! Bam Bam usually takes the whole popsicle in his mouth and pulls it off the stick- not yesterday! He took the stick and all. I had a fit! I tried to open his mouth to get it out, but it just wasn't happening. I just knew it would splinter in his intestinal tract and somehow cause deathly colic- but I went about my business and went out to feed the guineas, and my husband called over the fence that he found the stick on the ground!!! It was completely whole- he ate the good stuff and dropped the stick! I was amazed! And VERY happy! My Bam Bam is smarter than I gave him credit for!

I know. Today's popsicles were OFF the stick.

We had a pasture with a plumb tree in it. When the plumbs ripened you would find pits all over the ground but not a single bit of plumb meat. It truly is amazing how they can roll something around in their mouth, get what they want and spit out the rest.

I usually give my horses the pops that come in the plastic sleeve, you know the clear sleeve and you tear the top off and squeeze the bottom pushing the frozen stuff up out the top?

Well was giving some to one of my horses, and normally he nibbles the top off, well he grabbed the whole thing, plastic and all! I didn't have time to think just reacted and jammed my hand up in his mouth and grabbed the plastic tube!

When my dad was a kid they had a horse called Mickey who would eat apricots from the orchard. He'd take the whole apricot into his mouth, chew it up, then spit out the pits :)
