Kindly requesting a critique of my gelding's conformation and jumping technique. He is an 11yo Holsteiner.
Thank you very much!:-)
Shoulder is rather upright
Good depth of girth
I like his front legs too
High in the wither and his back is quite short
Nice hindquarters, though he may be a tad posty through the back legs.
I cant say much about the video, however, as im not a jumping expert ;)
Seems a little bit back at the knee, but otherwise nice. With a jump like that, I'd overlook it :). He got better as the jump got higher, nice and tight front end, nice and round, not overly excited but willing
This horse is back at the knee. He won't jump a lot or high and stay sound.
He has a huge front end.. and a weak rear end. He has adequate to good bone and a bit long in the back.
His front end, which is very Thoroughbred looking is a Holsteiner trait and a reason I like these warm bloods.. BUT they need a short coupling, correct rear end and hind leg to go with the front.
This boy will do OK in lower levels (up to 2'6" maybe 3'). He might also do OK (not great) in dressage. Great horse to learn hugely from. Looks a nice sensible type as well.. and that is worth a lot.
Thank you very much for the imput. :-)
He was a 4th level dressage horse and scored highly. Very good at it but he detests dressage. Really seems to enjoy jumping and is schooled up to Novice. He's got a very amiable personality and a strong work ethic. Not the smoothest ride but a flashy mover. Quite ridiculous to saddle fit though. :-|
