Critique please? :)

Since riding a much more forward horse this last week, I've really started questioning whether I want a very slow, relaxed horse. I figure that if I do want to advance to higher levels some day, whether it be jumping or something else. (I really want to try dressage at one point) I think that there's a horse out there that might fit my wants a bit better compared to Major. He is super sweet, but he's incredibly lazy. Even if I decided to go with a different horse, I had a well-known Western trainer tell me to tell my instructor to call her if he's ever for sale.. so it's likely that he'd be going to a great home, plus everyone has said that Western Pleasure would likely be his strong suit.

So, with that being said, I've been browsing the atlantic classifieds daily.. just waiting for a horse who seems quite nice to pop up. The other day, a 5yo TB mare popped up. She's the perfect height and has already been to a couple schooling shows and is also listed as a possible dressage prospect. My only issue is conformation, as I'm not a good judge of it and wouldn't want to buy a horse with conformation that may lead to issues down the road.

The shots aren't that great (they're just from the ad) but if I end up e-mailing her about the horse, I'll likely get a bunch more.

Coincidentally, my dad is going to the town where the horse is located from August 2 to 3 because he has to meet with a business client there. I'd have to take two days off work (although I get to work a weekend next week so it should even out) but still! He said I could come so I'll likely grab a video or two and some better conformation shots.. provided that I hear back. Fingers crossed though! :)

We would need proper photos in order to get conformation on him...

Cant say much from those photos... back may be a tad long and he looks buck-kneed in the fronts

I did notice the longer back, but would you mind telling me a bit more about buck-knees? Would it cause issues? Or is it just a small conformation fault?

Make sure you talk it over real well with your trainer who knows your riding well. A green 5 yo tb can be a real sweetheart, or a real handful. Will the personality be a fit for you and your skills and will you have the help that you need to train him/her? Only you can know that, but make sure you are getting into a situation that will help you progress and move forward to your goals in small steps. Good luck
