Young Horse's First Dentist Visit
My horse will be turning 3 next year and I am contemplating when to get his teeth seen to. Even if he just gets a check-up, I am planning on doing this when he is about 2.5 years, before I start doing any extensive bit training (such as long reining etc). If you have a young horse, when did he first get a dentist visit?

My horse (then foal) was 9 months old when a vet first looked in his mouth. He had his wolf teeth removed and he was gelded at the same time. Then pretty much every two years thereafter.

What are the benefits of having wolf teeth removed besides that they won't possibly cause discomfort while bitting? Is it really necessary?

The bit can rub up against the wolf teeth and cause problems/irritation.
