Critique my gelding please. :)
This is Smudge, he's a 2005 APHA grey gelding. He's currently downhill, still growing though, and he's cow hocked. Other than that, what do you think of his conformation?
Smudge is very cute. :) I love his coloring too!
His neck is a bit short & he is downhill, but he is still growing as you said, so he should fill in. :D
I really don't know a whole lot about conformation... so please ignore me if it turns out I'm making a complete fool of myself by what I'm saying... :P
Apart from what you already said of him being downhill and cow-hocked, he also seems to have pretty flat withers, and something of a short neck. His front pasterns seem to a bit too... strait? I dunno.. where it goes up and down, rather than more of a slant.
He's a gorgeous horse!!! I would love to have him!!! :P
Thanks guys. :)
FutureVetGirl, you are definately seeing what is there. The thing to keep in mind, is the lack of withers is common on horses that are downhill. Once he levels out, they'll be much more obvious. His pasterns would be more correct if he trusted a farrier enough to let them trim him. Currently he is wearing his hooves down on his own, so the angles are not correct.
i love his name! hehe
You've already said this but he is extreamly down hill. But as most of us know, foals grow their backside up, then their fronts, then their back. etc.
I love his colour and his head is really nice a flat! His neck does seem to be a little short but he is still growing.
Other then that, he looks really good! I love his colour! *again*
Really short neck. He's got nice coloring. It'd be good to see a picture of him straight on and from the back. That'd tell a lot about his legs.
