has your dog had all of her rabies shots?? ya that sucks when they get sprayed. When i lived at my dads, he had a long dairy barn (used to milk cows) anyways a skunk got in and was hiding under a gutter gate, anyways our dog went nuts at it and got sprayed/I ran to the house and got the 22 and well that was it for the skunk. But I had some of the smell on me too and the horses (who had stalls on the other end of the barn) didnt like it too much either. It smelled in the barn for quite a few weeks.... hope you get your dog smelling good again

It takes forever to get the smell out! Thank goodness none of my dogs have ever gotten in with one, but my mom's dog did! Man can skunks fight with a

i know! i just gave her a bath, but all it did was mix her shampoo smell with the skunk..blechhh

Our Lab Tanner gets sprayed about 3-4 times a year! Stoopid dog, you'd think he'd learn!
 Go out and get a can of tomato paste or sauce (its cheaper than juice) and water it down to thin shampoo consistancy. I keep an old shampoo bottle on hand just for this. I take the dog outside to do this but I just litterally get as much of the tomato mixture on him as possible and let him sit for a good 5-10 minutes (depending on the weather) Tanner always tries to lick himself clean  But then I rinse and repeat and then let it be. I find that he only smells then when he is wet and that wears off after a week or so.

thanks Duma!!!

i'll try the tomato paste and see if Kona can actually sit still for that amount of time

Me me me ask me!
I just saw this on myth busters they did a show on getting skunk smell out using all the usual methods even store bought skunk smelly stink remover.
Here is the low down on what worked best I wrote it down for just such an occasion :D :

1 quart (or liter) of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, H2O2.
Use fresh (unopened) hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Hydrogen peroxide eventually turns into water (H2O).
1/4 cup (50 ml.) of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon (5 ml.) of Liquid Soap
1 pair of plastic or latex gloves

Bathe the dog outside or, if it's too dark or cold, in the bathroom with the door closed and window opened.
Combine the ingredients in an open container (do not store in a sealed bottle--it will explode).
Using gloves, wash your dog with lukewarm water and the mixture while the mixture is bubbling. Work the mixture well into the fur.
Be sure to concentrate on the area that was sprayed.
Keep mixture away from your dog's face and eyes (it's a harsh solution). (If your dog has been sprayed in the face, try Tricotine Liquid Douche Concentrate or any over-the-counter douche.)
Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes or so before rinsing off.
Rinse the dog with lukewarm tap water. Don't wash the mixture into your dog's eyes (use a washcloth to cover the eyes if you're rinsing the head).
After bathing, check your dog's eyes. If they are red and watering, your dog may have taken a direct hit in the face. Skunk spray won't blind the dog, but it's very painful. Contact a vet.

thanks Vida!

i'll use both methods and see which one works better :D
