Critique Squiggy again!
I got a few new pictures this morning. This is her peak in condition for this year as I am getting knee surgery tomorrow morning and will not be able to ride for a while.
Please comment on her confo, muscling and condition! Thanksies!
^^ Om-nom-nomming on the trailer....
She is looking so much better!
She has a good shoulder
Nice neck set, though it appears long
Nice, clean front legs
Back is long
Maybe a touch bumhigh
Sharp slope to her croup but otherwise i like her hindquarters
Back legs look ever-so-slightly sickled but nothing serious
The only thing I dislike about her is the long back and thick set neck. The length of her neck is fine, all the rest I do like about her, except, sorry, she has a larger head for a mare. She doesn't look feminine at all.
Same disclaimer as always, I'm no expert... lol.
Conditioning-wise, she looks really nice. She doesn't have bulging excess muscle, but she's definitely toned. Overall, nice, fit, and healthy.
I don't really like small heads, I'm not a fan of the doll heads in qh's, so although her head isn't feminine, I don't find it too course or refined. It's a nice medium to me. Personal opinion. ;)
She is, essentially, what I call "the working quarter horse"- my favorite type of qh! She has a lovely, well-sloped, open shoulder, with nice straight legs, consisting of short (well-sloped) pasterns and cannon bones and good bone. She seems to be back at the knee.
Her back legs look a bit sickle hocked, with nice short canons and average to low-set hocks, a nice deep girth, a pretty flat wither, a long back and a nice big QH hip. She is a bit downhill but I would not count that as a flaw at all.
Overall, I find her quite lovely! She looks like she can get the job done and well.
I don't think Squiggy has a thick neck. She just doesnt' have a very big shoulder. But, overall, I like her conformation. She is very smooth muscled. I like her front legs especially, and her hock looks good.
I guess I just like Squiggy. plain and simple.
Yeah... she's isn't very girlie looking. :P
Tiny hit the nail on the head with the small shoulder thing. I have to make my breastcollar quite small to fit her.
When I first ended up with her, she looked SO ugly conformation wise, but a couple years of corrective trimming on her front feet helped a lot with her (now almost unnoticable) toeing out problem.
She stands just under 16hh right now, and is a very strong and fast girl. I have no complaints about how she grew up. She might have some quirks undersaddle, but she's only 4, so we got time.
