Is this enough reason to call the rescue?
Should I call a rescue? If so, who should I call? I'm in the Boise area.... If not, what in the world makes this horse healthy enough to have all those miles left on her?!
GREAT kids horse-White Arab
**just in case the ad gets deleted**
I have an older white Arabian Mare. She is about 20 but the vet says she has a TON more years on her. She is completely broke and you can do literally anything to her and she is fine with it. She would be a great kids horse for someone. If you are interested let me know and I can send you a picture. (208)631-7421
She could be sound. She does need some help though, be that a new owner, a vet workup, rescue or all the above. She has watery eyes too. Poor girl.
I hope she gets a new home.
She is thin, which could be caused by just about anything, especially if she really is 20. That said, there are plenty of 20 year old horses out there still working regularly and loving every minute of it. Just depends on the horse.
Looks like she is kept in a decent pasture, so I doubt she is starved, more than likely a tooth problem and/or a parasite load.
yes I would say maybe because she is older. She looks like she is kept in a nice pasture. Its better then what my horses are.. I wouldnt call the rescue though.. she just needs the right home..
It just concerns me that they're pushing this horse as a "great kids horse" and the vet says she's good to go. That, combined with a cheap price, leads horses like this into uneducated and beginner homes :( Hopefully she gets a good home.
What would you be wanting to call a rescue about? Just because she looks a little on the thin side? Have you spoken to the owners? Who's to say they haven't recently taken her on to fatten her up & sell her? I don't get the prob.
This mare is more than a little on the thin side.
If you look, she is not all gaunt up in the stomach area either, she has something wrong other than lack of food. She is getting food but something, either bad teeth or parasites are robbing her of the nutrients in that food.
However I hesitate to call AC on an advertized horse, at least they are trying to get it a better home. If they get a lot of nasty calls, next time they might just leave them to starve in the field. Also just because a horse is in their 20's is no excuse for being thin.
