Limping on and off? Lymes?
So once again Lizzy has decided to spend my money, I'm pretty sure she has a crush on the vet. Anyway she has been limping on and off for almost 2 weeks now. The only thing that has changed is I added a half cup flax seed oil to her feed once a day and for the last week antihist.

It's a very slight limp, you really have to pay attention to notice. When I ride it's not there. She gets gimpy on gravel but her hooves are still growing out and good growth coming thru. Saturday I went for a ride. She looked a bit stiff/gimpy in morning I fed her and put two scoops msm in her feed. By the time I tacked up almost two hours later she was fine. No limp the rest of the day. Yesterday, barely anything for a few minutes. Today it was noticeable at the walk it's usually only at the trot.

She has been having a reluctance to move in the last two weeks. It's like she freezes her joints. With a bunch of persuading she will move but looks stiff at first stride.

She gets 60cc of red cell per day along with antihist twice a day. I'm thinking that could mask the lethargic symptoms of Lymes.

So what do you all think? Lymes or something else?

Ps I'm calling vet in morning. I will move up the visit to this week if they let me pay next week.

Edit: no heat swelling or any soreness I can find anywhere.

I should also add that it seems she changes which side she's gimpy on. I have poked and prodded all over and cannot find any heat or pain. No bone changes, I watch this horse like a hawk. She is 19 for those that don't know.

Which leg is she gimpy on? Front? Back?

It could be a number of things including an abscess that is working it's way out.

It's in the front but sometimes it looks like the left and sometimes the right. I thought I was an abcess so I poked around her hoof and there's no tenderness anywhere and no heat anywhere.

She's always had stiff days/weeks before but I just thought it was her age and being in work. I have a call into the vet just waiting for them to call me back.

Red cell can be hard on the stomach. Could that be bothering her?

You certainly can't rule Lymes out. Most horses have some degree of lymes in my area. It is known to cause rotating lameness. Only way to be sure is to do the bloodwork. Good luck!

Well she doesn't have runny poo, I would think if she had stomache problems that would be the first sign. She also doesn't have a problem with me touching or brushing around her stomache. Oh yea and she's still in heat since june 15th.

Well vet is coming out tomorrow at 5pm. This horse has turned into a vets dream come true.

Well she just needs front shoes. Her soles were pretty soft. So calling the farrier in the morning.
