Western Dressage

Hi guys! I was wondering what your opinions were on 'western dressage'. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool and I'd love to do it! But there's no one that teaches it and no place to compete here in Ohio lol.

The GLDA has a WD class in their up coming show.

An old thread somewhere on here contained a variety of views from it being a copy-cat sport to being respectable.

Also if you go to the usef web site they will have a list of places that have shows.

I am not sure how much I like the idea. But my vet has talked me into giving it a try.

Really? What city is it in?
I'd think it'd be a fun a way to get your horsemore responsive and do different things with your horse. Not everyone who rides western does western pleasure but still might like to show, so that might be a good chance for them to do some of their showing. I show Reign western pleasure and it can be boring to just work on a few things when we practice. Sometimes I feel she'd be better suited as a dressage horse, haha.

The show is Sept 29th at the Fulton Co Fair grounds in Wauseon Ohio.

Here is the show bill.

I am still out on this. I use a lot of differnt dressage things with my reiners but never really liked this idea on several levels. But since it is close and I am trying to support the club and well lets just say my vet can be very perswasive.
