Wasn't myself personally, but my best friend who is a little bit taller than 5ft rode my other friend's 16hh gelding the other week. She is a beginner (though rides frequently and is quite secure enough to be riding a different horse than our two), and he is a gentleman - both my friend and I were there for her also. She was struggling to get him to walk out after something took his attention in the adjoining property and I said "give him a good nudge in the side".... her leg height was naturally not where mine and his owner's is and so when she did he took it as his cue to shake hands, a trick his owner taught him.
Needless to say we both peed ourselves because my poor friend and her midget legs had gotten the wrong cue  With tears in our eyes, we managed to get them moving out again but it's something we teased her about all the same.
Here's a pic we took the following week of her standing next to his butt... haha.
I swear we aren't terrible friends really!
EDIT - it appears I've discovered a fellow Kiwi and Cantab on here! Welcome to the forum!

This happened a few weeks ago at my lesson. When I dissmount, I kick free of both sturrips & kind of slide/hop off the side. I was wearing a fairly tight, sleevless shirt, cause even at 9pm, it was still in the 90's for temps. well, the bottom of my shirt caught on the saddle horn & as I slid off, up & off went my shirt. Ta Da, I was standing there in my sports bra! Thank God only my instructor & I were there!

When I was about much younger (9-10 yrs old), I was always riding this pony named Justy. He was the sweetest thing! One day, I had him in the ring next to the mounting block so I could hop on. As I put my left foot into the stirrup, off he goes at a fast walk! I was literally hanging off the side of him with one foot in a stirrup, my hands and other leg grasping onto the saddle for dear life! Now I look back and think "Wow, he was only like 12 hands, why didn't I just make myself fall?" I was actually taller than him at the top of his ear by probably a few inches! It was quite funny and needless to say ever since I have made sure the horse I am riding never moves away from the mounting block, while I am getting on!

Nice to see others having their share of fun.. not sure how many have been and read on my web site some of the funny things I have had to deal with, but one of the funniest, was me getting a fright in a little remote mountain hut when the hut all of a sudden went dark, and I turned around to find my great big hard case Irish Draught standing behind me actually inside the hut...(smilies).. he had invited himself in to check out what I was up too cheeky bugger...lol then I tried to shoooo him out again. and he nearly demolished the wall of the hut with his big ass as he tried to back out thru the hut door and missed hitting the wall.. the whole hut shook with his attempts..lol..

@littrella-that happened to me once only it was a pair of jeans and a loop for the belt caught on something and tore the biggest hole in them. Pretty embarassing! Needless to say I was pretty quick to leave!

Hah, a few years ago I was driving a pony in the ring the night before my class at the world championships. We were going along at a good trot and as we approached the gate, a big roadster was coming down the ramp into the ring. I turned my pony early to give him space, and like a DOLT said "whoa" instead of "whoop". My dear sweet pony went from a quick trot to a dead stop. I had no idea what happened. The next thing I knew I was picking myself up out of the basket. Everyone, including the road horse guy was rolling laughing. Hooray for slick pleasure cart seats!

I have two stories lol. One was a few weeks ago while I was riding Tess down the road and there were donkeys in a field... Cue jello legs and standing like a shaking mountian in the middle of the road while I die of laughter...
The second one was at a show while I was jumping Meg. We had only been schooling pole jumps and a few non-threatening cross country jumps... There were gates at that show... It was a 2'3 jumper class and there were two gates for one line... She cleared those gates with probably a foot to spare... Clearly those things weren't gonna touch her.
