Measuring a horse for proper saddle fit.
How do I go about measuring a horse to ensure proper saddle fit?
Preferably for a western saddle
The reason I'm asking is because my saddle doesn't fit me or my horse so I'm selling it and buying another one but all I know is that I need a 14 inch seat bu that doesn't help my horse
I usually bend a piece of wire that'll hold it's shape when I'm done so that I can fit it to the saddlea I''m looking to buy.
What kind of saddle are you using that doesn't work?
What kind of horse do you have?

^ Never thought of that, it's a good idea!
Ok but where and what parts of my horse do I measure? My saddle for one is too long my horse has a short back and the skirt of my saddle is 24 inches
Or does the skirt size even matter. Also How do I know if I need full qh bars or quarter bars?
My horse is a twh/paint cross and I'm looking for a barrel racing saddle.
Ok I figured it out.
I need a 22 inch skirt, 6 in bars and 12.5 swell and 14" seat
My only problem is all the saddles I'm finding online will fit except for my horse needs a saddle that's no longer than 22 inches they're all 26 inches any help on that does it have to be 22 inches
Usually the bars are (depending on brand)
You are probably okay with a normal barrel saddle that is about 24 inches.
The semi 6.5" is usually a more slender horse with some withers.
I don't think you want the full - or your horse needs to get in shape and your times probably aren't good! (joking)
The 6.75" is what more barrel racers are made in for that athletic build.
I don't even barrel race yet... I want too so I'm going ahead and buying the saddle
This is the saddle I want to order 14 16 Zebra Western Horse Barrel Racing Saddle- Western Horse Saddles - Saddle Online
