what do you protect your horse's legs with?
I have seen people use a variety of boots on their horses to barrel race. What is best on the front.. and the back? I've seen splint boots on both, sports boots on both, and all different combos of splint/sport and no boots. What do you recommend??

I personally prefer SMBs on front and Polos on back. SMBs for the front because they take more blunt trauma and protect the leg all the way around. And Polos on the back because they are more fitted to the leg and cover up higher. And my horses prefer Polos on the backs vs SMBs on the backs.
And I like the Pro Equine brand over PC and CE.

You will get 50 different responses on this, as it is a matter of personal preference.
I prefer to use Professional's Choice SMB 3 boots on all 4 legs, plus bell boots on the front legs. Sport boots offer more 360 protection than just splint boots and they do help absorb some of shock/stress with barrel racing (not as much as the companies claim, but they do help a little).

Either polos on all 4the or only on back with pc ventech elites on the front. Depends on my horse and the ground that day.

It really depends. For splints I really like ProTech or Open fronts (More an english thing, but I like them)
BUT, for actually competing, I like Classic Equine Legacy boots, or SMB Elite VenTech. Though honestly I feel like the Legacy boots offer better support and protection.
I do love polos but they take ages to put on. And in the heat, putting them on and taking them off is a major pain and not worth it.

Professional's Choice VenTech Elites on all four, Justin bell boots.

I'm just getting into barrel racing and use smbs on the front with Kevlar bell boots and I use skid boots on the back. That's just a personal preference as I find the skid boots offer better protection (not the leather cup kind the full medicine boot type :-).

CE Legacy boots on front and back! Love them!

Iconoclast boots on front and back with pro choice or iconoclast bells. Iconoclast boots feel like they offer more support and last forever. I loved SMB Elites until the velcro kept wearing out before I got my moneys worth out of them and the classic equine boots always felt to flimsy for my taste.
