I finally did it!
I finally took the plunge and moved my horses out of a very toxic situation.
I would have done it sooner but honestly didn't think I had any other options that I could afford. I was boarding with family that, even though they own 5 horses of there own, are extremely horse ignorant. The last straw was being told I was making excuses the ONE day I didn't feed. I really felt that I had been used as their punching bag for quite some time. I showed up CONSISTENTLY every other day and would spend at least 2 hours just cleaning and feeding. I was not the only boarder but their friends got away with murderer. There was never any contract and board was cheap because it included nothing but feeding, I bought the hay. My horses stall was always clean while everyone else stood around in atleast a foot of poop. My SIL 'S mare had really bad thrush and was completely lame in her front feet, and they still wouldn't clean her stall. It was absolutely discusting. So to be accused of making excuses just wasn't going to fly this time.
On top of all that, yesterday when I picked up my horses, she told my husband that she didn't like my horse Sky because she's too aggressive. That's the biggest load of BS I've ever heard. I didn't get to speak with her because I probably would have punched her in
the face, but I should have told her if she couldn't handle my horse, she had no business owning horses at all, there is nothing wrong with her. They also have a five month old colt that they plan on keeping a stallion. "Oh Gosh!"
Anyway, I moved my babies to a wonderful boarding facility on pasture board. No other horses were using it, so they have it all to themselves. I am so excited for them. They are coming from a place that had dirt, dirt, and more dirt, and poop. Her body condition from having the baby has also not improved, eventhough I was paying my niece to feed her suppliments twice a day, it wasn't getting done atleast half the time. I'm guessing the 24/7 turn out will help with that as well as her suppliments that she will definitely be getting from now on. Hugs for anyone that got through that, I think I just really needed to vent.
Sky and Red in there new home.
congrats..their pasture looks great!
Oh god, that place sounds like... well... not going there.
So glad you got them out of there..
They look happier in their new paddock anyway!
Cant understand that woman... If she "cant" handle your horse, she shouldnt be messing with it anyway...
Thanks, I went to see them today and they're doing great in their pasture.
Thing is they never had to handle my horses, just had to throw them food. But without even handling them, somehow came to the conclusion that she's aggressive. The geldings spend all day slamming into the fences, biting and kicking at eachother, but she says nothing about that. Her problem was obviously with me. Why? I have no idea. I thought we were friends, but now, I've seen how she treats her friends and I didn't get that same treatment.
It is what it is. I have no desire to carry on any kind of relationship with her and now I have a great barn full of really nice people. I can't wait for this heat to subside. This barn does group rides all the time and before I always had to ride alone.
