How often do you stop your horse?

Just wondering how often the reiners here stop their horses?

Selena, when she was in shape and still strictly a reiner was only really stopped about once a week because she knew her job. Now though, with the show coming up, I've been doing it a little more. Not enough to really wear her out but just exposing anything she may need tuned up since I really haven't asked her to stop (as in really sit and slide) for months.

Once they are trained. Not very often. Normally the week before a show I will start stopping the horse to make sure the stop is there and I like to do it early in the week just in case I need to work on it a bit. However if they have it then that is it until maybe the day before. Big thing is keeping a ballance. You do not want to stop them a lot b/c you do not want to over use them but you have to stop them enough to keep the correct muscles up. Backing works well for this too.
