Posting with a gaited horse?

This feels like a bit of a silly question, but for hunt seat classes do you post during the trot if your horse is gaited?

If you horse is trotting, otherwise there's nothing to post to.

Check with the rules of the show - if they REQUIRE a trot and your horse doesn't trot, you're just wasting money by entering.

Kind of what I was thinking, but I figured I should check.
Bad news with that is I *NEED* to work on my posting, but my QH is lame. Maybe I'll see if someone else will let me steal one of their horses for some trotting work.

Anyway, thanks for the input!
