Plastic fence posts VS Staples
Hey guys does anyone have any good solutions or methods for to trying to hammer staples into recycled plastic fence posts?
Never tried myself but I do work around plastic for a living and you don't hammer things into plastic like you do wood. Typically we drill and tap screws into plastic, 8-32 or 10-32 are what we commonly use. If the plastic is real thin like some of the plastic fencing I've seen you'll have to use a backing piece to prevent it from ripping out.
Have you tried yet or are you perceiving that you will? Just use a hammer and barbed staples, That's what I use in Aus or are we different here. If they have gone hard and they bend staples then pre drill as you would into a dried hardwood (usually you drive staples when they are green).
