hmmm another color question

ok so we were having another family debate... so my question is this, say you breed a palomino and a bay and you end up with a bay foal... when that bay foal is grown up you breed it to another bay is it possible for those two bays to produce a palomino? I think not but im not super color genetic savy

No. Cream is a dominant gene. That means that if they carry it, they will show it. So, if the first foal was a bay, then it does not carry a cream gene and it would be impossible for them to produce a foal that carried it. If it did carry cream, then it would be a buckskin (one copy of cream).

Agreed, the only color that does not necessarily show the creme gene would be a smoky black (black horse with a cream gene).
