ann needs your help

ok..lets just say theres this girl named ann. and this ann girl has a wonderful horse but she has sadly out grown her and she is going to a new home on Nov 1st. the owner of the barn where ann boards her horse has nicley gave one of her green horses to her to lease, even tho ann is not thrilled about having to work with a green horse, she accepts, atleast now she has a horse to use. Now lets say another friend of ann's knows shes planning on using this new horse , but anns friend says she going to by a 3yrold horse for ann to use. even tho ann is not happy at all about this she doesn't say anything YET to her about it. Now, just to screw ann up even more, a lady down the road tells ann she has 2 horses for lease who are broke, been showed and would be a blast to work with. Ann really feels she has an obligation to use the first, green horse becasue she told her barn owner she would use her first. but leasing one of these 2 horses that are for lease would be so much easyer and funner....what should ann do? ( i know very confusing...sorry)

Ann should do what she feels the most comfortable doing. If thats leasing one of the two horses down the road, then do it. If Ann tells her boarder that she is not comfortable working with a green horse, then a reasonable BO would understand. If Ann feels a green horse is beyond her capabilities, then she should by all means graciously refuse the offer, and go with the two horses down the road.

Did Ann outgrow the first horse as in Ann has grown taller and more mature or has Ann's ability outgrown the horse?

If it is Ann's ability...then I'd say the BO is offering up a greenie to challenge Ann's skills and to actually help Ann with her horse pursuits. Even tho Ann may be doubting her own abilities.

If Ann has literally grown....Ann needs to be truthful with the BO and let then know that she is not ready for a greenie. In this case Ann should most likely lease the horse down the road.

Ann is a lucky girl with many options to choose from. Ann needs to step back from the situation and try looking at it from different perspectives so she can make a well thought out decision as to what will be best for her.

agreed! obligation to a BO is one thing-obligation to self and the horse another more important thing. if the girl isnt experienced enough to handle a green horse-((((been there done that with a lease-)))) the girl and the horse will suffer-take the horse that can be handled and like Moxie says "graciously" decline

Ann has outgrown her horse in both ways, as sad as it is, her horse has carried her as far as she can in riding and in the height way. it's not that the greenie is above her level, its just that Ann is at the point where she wants a horse to have fun with, and she feels that, yes, even tho the greenie may turn out to be the perfect horse for her, she doen't want all the responability of the training all the time, one of the possibly leases has been cattle penning and that something she really wants to try out. i don't think that ann would mind the work with the greenie if it was the beginnig of summer, but here in canada, snows not all that far away, and she was planning on taking the greenie to an indoor ring but at this moment in time, it's doesn't look as if the BO will let the horse go to that barn...( a totally diffrent story) Ann has someone willing to help her with the greenie it just that i think she would prefer a horse that is all ready at her level, call her lazy, but i think that with all the work she's had to do with her old horse, she would enjoy and easy ride.( her old horse was a hand full that she had to do a lot of work on, but it paid off)

Well, it sounds like Ann has made up her mind. She wants the breathing room and relaxation that a seasoned horse can bring. ( which BTW..is not lazy of her...its mature and responsible of her) I would suggest that Ann tell her BO that and pursue the lease and team pen away! :D

Thanks everyone but things worked out, the two leases's down the road endend up not going for lease so there out, but ann is friends with the lady so i'm sure she can still ride one and go penning next year, she's going to start the greenie, atleast give her a chance and if it doesn't work out then she'll move on...thanks
