Registration question?

Not sure if this is the right place, but if not it will be moved.

So I finally got the previous owner of my mare to sign a transfer for my mare and her foal, plus sign the foals registration since my mare was still in his name. (Issue with not being told how to transfer a horse and such.)

Since the stallion is still in his name but not his possesion I talked to APHA and they said he has to sign the breeding report. So I mailed everything to him and he signed and dated everything that I gave him. I have to pay everythin and send it in. Well I was marking the fees that applied and got to the stallion breeding report. It sais "Stallion Listng Fee (one-time fee)" What exactly does that mean? Also, report filing fee? Everything else was easy, but this baffled me and APHA closes at 4. I want to get it in the mail tomorrow, so any help would be nice.

I am going to guess that a stallion listing fee is to have the stallion on the APHA's list of stallions?

That is kind of what I was thinking.

The stallion must be listed with the APHA, whether it's a Quarter Horse, Paint or Thoroughbred. It's a one time fee of I believe $75 and it allows the horse to have registered babies through the APHA.

If the stallion was NOT listed on the stallion list through APHA, you have to pay the $75 to get him listed, to get your foal registered. DNA is also required for all stallions listed.

Say the AQHA has the horse registered through them, APHA can contact AQHA and have the DNA record transferred so you don't have to pay the extra fee.

But, if the stallion is APHA registered, but not listed with the stallion listing, you'll need DNA from the stallion. And since the previous owner doesn't own him anymore, this may put you at a standstill. I say may, because I'm not 100% sure since APHA does not require horses registered to have DNA profile done the way AQHA does.

You'll have to contact APHA.

Is this mare a rescue? How do you know who the foals sire is?
