I really need to build my confidence up.
RIght now, with Murray, he has his ear/ head-shyness and with him rearing and pulling, I freak out. Not to the point I don't want to ride or be near him, just when no one is near by to help or watch over.
Sue says I'm too soft, but Murray is a good horse to ride, but I need to be firm with him and make him listen (as he's pretty much a pet to his owners). He's been allowed to be bad for a year, so we have to make him listen. My trial with him is almost up too.
Any ideas on building my confidence? Merci.
Is he rearing on the ground or when you are on him? If he is rearing on the ground, is he pulling away from you or jumping towards you? I think alot of advice can be given, just need to know what he's doing and when... I have a feeling you mentioned it in another thread but I havent seen it....
I'm wondering if maybe this just isn't the right horse for you? It seems that you are very uncomfortable when you write about him. It would be better to wait for a horse that you would be more comfortable around then one that you are unsure of.
With patience and time it could work itself out (the confidence issues), but there are other good horses out there just waiting to find kind and caring owners like you.
Wordstoasong, you may have to build up your confidence but it will be easier on a horse that is a confidence builder and let the problem horse to a person who is trained to handle him.
I'm going to agree with Solon and iride--
