Canadian Dressage Folks!!

I've just heard that the Canadian Dressage Organization has proposed a rule for 2013 to allow ear plugs in the show ring!!
If you are a member of this organization please send an email to polivier@equinecanada.ca to say you do NOT support this rule change!!
Apparently the only people objecting to it are non-riders and it is likely to get passed! What a shame that the sport aiming to show the highest partnership between horse and riders is allowing ear plugs in the show ring.

Not Canadian... but from an Aussie, what a crock of "poop"!!!! That's ridiculous.

Ear plugs for the rider or for the horse? Sorry if that sounds stupid, but there are both.

However, I completey agree that it is uncalled for and probably unsafe in a dressage environment.

For the horse, to block out noise and distraction.

Wow, this is wrong.

Yup, definitely out of line.

Aren't all members informed of proposed rule changes?

I'm from Holland, and there it's not allowed to use earplugs on a horse. I totally agree with this rule and I think that it shouldn't be allowed anywhere in the showring. The International Dressage Rules (FEI) don't allow them either.

Do they allow them in dressage anywhere???
In Australia they are banned too

I don't think its a coincidence that Canada is both the only country to be eliminated in the Olympics for having a horse going bat**** crazy, and the only country dumb enough to consider implementing a rule allowing earplugs.

No, there's certainly a strong correlation there. Hopefully members will put up enough of a fight to override this proposed rule.
Hey, why not allow double bridles in prelim tests while we're at it.

I'm thinking that blinkers might actually be a better addition hahaha.

My friend, who is protesting the rule, just emailed me that they replyed to her that the reason they are allowing ear plugs is for safety. Hahahahahahahahaha. She said "Then why do you allow competitions to be held on footing where horses do not stay upright??".
Such a hypocritical organization.
