Color Woes

So back again on the extra credit that I was working in before (where I asked about roam being lethal). Got it graded and handed back. I'm not sure if the professor graded it or a TA but I put Rn- for the roam and got marked wrong and was told it should be Rnrn. UGH! I even explained myself in it.

On another note, one picture I was provided with was an Appaloosa who I was unsure if she was a bay or buckskin. I ended up googling to see if I could find what she truly was. I found the ranches site and they have her as a buckskin. Looking at her other pictures I kind of feel she looks like one too. Grader marked me wrong saying she's a bay.

This is the ranches site: http://nnamtrahappaloosas.m.webs.com/site/mobile?dm_path=%2Fmares.htm&fw_sig_site=59163388&f w_sig_is_admin=0&fw_sig_permission_level=0&fw_sig_ tier=0&fw_sig_session_key=34f98cfadd2a27403b88efb6 60f09e5b178b1a98578e6081a8dbaca979ec8935-59163388&fw_sig_api_key=522b0eedffc137c934fc726858 2d53a1&fw_sig_time=1347641374579&fw_sig_permission s=none&fw_sig_social=1&fw_sig_access_token=855e79e d359551be481b95a98d1e51c4019be80c&fw_sig=6eb4f3397 2915452088a0a773c7c4207&fw_sig_premium=0&fw_sig_ur l=http://nnamtrahappaloosas.webs.com/&fb_sig_network=fw#0103

She's the second one down, CAYUSE SPEED INFEWSION. The picture provided to us is the one where she's turned. In the first she definitely doesn't look bay. I wish I could find out more about her foals to see if she's produced cream horses out of non creams. What do you all think?

I just found her on all breed pedigree and she's listed as palomino rofl. It does show her producing a palomino foal by a supposed chestnut stud.

Sorry for the long link. I'm using my phone and it's not cooperating.

I am no expert in color but here's a more user friendly link: Mares - "NNAMTRAH" Appaloosas/Sportaloosas and Boston Terrier Dogs

Thank you. I couldn't get it to get off of the mobile user site.

Anyone want to share their opinion? If she is actually buckskin I'd like to send an email to my professor to get the grade fixed.

That's something that can be had to gauge with Appaloosas. LP can really skew what the base color is.

Yeah I was thinking of that, but she did produce a palomino by a chestnut apparently though.

I know why she is insisting the mare is bay though... she comes up on a google image search for "bay appaloosa mare" and "bay appaloosa" *facepalm*

I would forward on the information that you found on the mare, including the website, from your computer, to the teacher and just leave it at that.

I've raised a lot of bay Appys, and would bet the farm she is a buckskin...

That's exactly how I found the picture online! Lol. Looked up buckskin Appaloosa and found nothing. Came up under bay but looked at the website.

Looks buckskin to me, but if I'd done the paper since it's about genetics I would have used color tested horses.
