Youth World Show?
Just curious, but I was wondering about how much work it takes to take a horse to the AQHYA in Reining? (Not necessarily to win, but to go and show).
I have a 12 year old Quarter horse that was trained in reining by someone who did really well with her. The lady who owned her before I did tuned her up real nice and I think she could have done well at an AQHA show.
What I am asking is would it be worth it to try and contact a trainer to evaluate us to see if he could help us get there? I know it is a long shot but I was just curious!
Lately she has been off for around 9 months due to colic surgery and having a baby. I have been lightly riding her for a little bit since it was the vet says it was fine. But she had to have a break due to really long feet. (We got that fixed!) Then I bruised up my knee real good so I have not been able to ride for the past few weeks. So it's safe to say she really needs more muscle!
My friend knows this really good reining trainer that I was thinking of talking to, but I am unsure due to the fact she isn't a world champion and that she isn't in shape.
So to sum up this really random post, would it be worth it to take this mare to AQHYA World show in reining next year? We only need 6 points to qualify for it.
Thanks to those who have read this!
It's always good to have a goal and a dream. Kind of hard to achieve something great if you don't try for it.
It sounds like she will need some conditioning. You can start on that yourself. Then go see a trainer. Try a couple of shows, see how it goes.

How should i start building up her muscle? Any specific exercises?
Ok thank you for the advice. We have a couple breed shows coming up here soon. Do you know how the point system works?
