bareback and Bridleless I took this video a few months ago of me riding my reining horse, Gracie. We are just now really starting to get into bareback riding so I'm still learning, don't criticize me to hard! lol This video has clips from three different bareback rides. The first clips are with a bridle and bit. The next one with a halter and lead rope. The last few clips are all bridleless. A few facts- 35 sec. I was asking her to half-pass but it is a bit hard to do that as my yard is very small and on a slope. 10 sec. I was just messing around and asking her to pivot, not spin, because our ground is nothing be rocks and slate. Sorry about moving my hands all the time in the bridleless clips at the end. I have not figured out where to let my hands should rest when I'm bridleless. lol http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...psc1136332.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...pscf56a429.jpghttp://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps190ee2b3.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps975ede07.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps66f9457f.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps8737c5f6.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps26457eb6.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...psf797987a.jpg |

I LOVE riding bareback and bridleless :D |
Thanks! She is such a great horse! ♥ |
AAAAWWW!!! I love your helmet (cover?)!!!!!!!! :D where did you get it?? :) Awesome riding, you guys look so good! I'm working with my horse to try and get to that point. You two must have a great bond. :) |
You have an excellent seat when riding bareback. Bridleless is a term used when there is nothing on the horse's head. Your knotted halter acts somewhat like a bosal. Leave her halter or bridle on but try riding with a rope around her neck. The other is "in case". You will learn where to move the rope on her neck for the best results. There's a lady who does it on you-tube, and it's good but not with the finess the bridle can create. |
I usually rest my hands on my thighs. It helps you focus on moving your body instead of just your hands to turn. Doesn't look like you have that problem though. |

That really inspires me to think maybe I'm not to bad of a bareback rider. lol I have ridden her with a neck rope but she really only needs it for safety if I am in an arena with other horses. Most of the time she listens very well while bridleless and dosen't require it. We have only had one "run away" when she was spooked by someone spraying her with a water hose while I was loping. :-x |

I will try that so that it doesn't look like I have floppy arms! haha |
You ride beautifully and your horse is very happy and balanced under you. Nice work! (oh , I think you meant "side pass' not "half pass", right?) |
