My Surgery Recovery.
As some of you know, I recently had surgery on my feet (on both my big toes actually). Basically, it seems all my life of wearing riding boots and some dodgy genetics meant that my toenail grew very weirldy, causing pressure across the sides of both of my toes (similar to very extreme ingrown toenails). This meant, that I had twelve minor surgeries (local) to try and fix it. We then concluded after 24 needles in my feet, twelve cuts and eighteen infections (before & after surgery, just bad luck - not because of a neglect in cleaning or anything) that a more permident solution was needed. So, my lovely doctor walked in one day and announced he had a cure. I thought, because I'm really getting sick of not being able to ride my horse every few weeks because of surgery. He then told me the fine print: *warning, little gross*

They would remove my toe nail and the nailbed, along with reconstructing in a few places. He then told me this would mean stitches, pain and not being able to walk for over two weeks. I thought, well. That's pretty horrible.

He then told me they would give me good drugs, so I said yes -thinking the pain would be manageable. No one told me until after the surgery, that I could only be on the drugs for five days, before it posed a potential health risk.

So, on Thursday I went and had my surgery. All went well, except I took extra time to wake up in recovery and wasn't feeling well at all. I later proceeded to bleed all over the recovery floor. My bad.

so, as some of you may know - the pain was horrible, basically went several days without sleep & spending way too much time on horse forum. I also had some issues with bleeding & my leg still randomly goes purple. But, I am (today being Tuesday) beginning to be able to go for small walks around the house now. The pain is still pretty bad, but I'm not having any percription drugs for it. Which is probably why its two am and I'm still awake..

Now, I can attach gross progress pictures - if anyone wants to see them?

I'm glad to see your walking around a bit. I don't know if I've got the courage to look at the pictures though.....:hide:

Thanks guys.

Got taken back to hospital today with an infection. So, I'm not feeling great and on some antibiotics every six hours.

Haha (: I might post photos shortly. With a massive disclaimer!

I should probably be asleep right now, there isn't a lot of fun to be had waking up every six hours. Why must this be so complicated? At least I'm amusing myself by studying and watching continuous episodes of a show I use to watch.
