Laying down?

Hi!
My horse lays down and rolls... a lot.
I was just wondering how much does a horse lay down, on average??
What is normal?

Some horses do it more than others. If we brush or use fly spray on Harley, he will roll as soon as you let him go. Most will roll if they are sweaty. Otherwise some will hardly roll.

I don't think that it is bad if they roll a lot. However, if their back is out of place or tweaking and that is causing them too roll, you might need to get them checked out.

Another MAJOR thing is that they aren't up and down all the time because they could be colicing or have a belly ache.

Yeah I wouldn't stress about it & depending what 'a lot' means, could well be perfectly normal, but I would consider & want to rule out/treat health issues that may be causing it - skin allergies or sore feet are another possible reason.
