a new tattoo design

ok, my mother is wanting a new tattoo to go on her shoulder. she wants it to be a horse with angel wings, and not look like a pegasus. she wants it because she wants it in honor of all the fallen horses, and wants to feel like she an angel horse on her shoulder. if any of you guys could come up with anything that would be great!

I have an idea, but I suck at wings, and I'm not too sure about the angle of the horse (considering front or 3/4 view, I'm best at sides).... I just know that if I can get it right it will look amazing!

Will get to work in the next couple of days and let you know how I go.

She could get a portrait of a favorite horse done in photorealistic style then have some artsy wings added in to symbolize that the horse is an angel. The difference in drawing styles would make it seem more like an angel than like a Pegasus.

id love to see your idea!

i think she would want that. but her horse looks like any other horse, so when she has the artist do the tattoo, she's going to have him do the white marking on her face. she plans on getting it done around january or maybe a little before then.

lilkitty, I've been trying to get a photo of one of my horses to reference off for the angle, so it won't look horrible but I don't think it's going to look amazing either.

Do you have a photo of your mother's horse's face marking so I can get it right in the design? Otherwise a detailed description will do - like my filly has a star and stripe that looks like a comet flying up towards the top of her head, and the top of the comet sits about 3/4 inch above the whorl on her forehead. My gelding has a star/stripe/snip and the star is sort of a 3/4 star that goes into a narrow stripe that goes all the way down the exact middle of his face and into a small diamond-shaped snip that's smack in the middle of his nose, between his nostrils. That sort of description.

I won't be grayscaling it because I'm too lazy, this will probably end up being a very basic concept sketch that I might develop more but only if I fall in love with it.

aw what a sweet face. Cute marking! Actually, that's a lot like my girl's star and stripe marking, except Magic's marking is straight and your mother's horse's marking slips off to one side.

yes, her marking drives my ocd side insane haha but she's a sweet horse ^^ i haven't told mom anyone has commented, i want to suprise her with what you come up with :)

god it would drive me nuts too! Both my horses have lovely mostly symmetrical, straight markings, for a reason XD

I would suggest going to a tattoo artist, they are very very creative and it would even skip the step of them having to edit/redo any design. When I got mine done my tattoo artist I gave him a rough sketch of an idea I wanted, then several reference photos and gave him the idea of what I wanted and the style I wanted it. Then he created something, I then asked him to critique a few things then VOILA! Something I loved came up from it. Just make sure to get an artist that specializes in what she wants (realistic, tribal, something else...) and tell them what you want.

I thought I would combine artsy and realistic too, but the guy who did my tattoo suggested against and said that it would look clashed and not very good.
