My horse's nose is bleeding.
I'm not sure what is wrong with her, but my horse's nose is bleeding. There is blood running out of the left side of her nose. (Not a ton, just a little.) I couldn't find a cut, and she hasn't been ridden since Friday. Suggestions on what could be wrong? Could this be serious?
How long has she been bleeding? She could have hit her nose on something, like people do.
Does she seem to be in distress? Lethargic?
If she appears to be acting normal and the blood dries up in a little bit, she's most likely fine. If she's not acting herself, time to call the vet.
Possibilities: ethmoid hematoma, gutteral pouch mycosis, exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage, head trauma, or simply a burst capilllary.
