Best boots/pads/saddles?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for suggestions on the pads, sports boots, and a good brand of barrel saddle that's about $400 or less if possible! For barrels :) I found some polos that I love, red with black skulls! That's his theme, red and black, biker style! Lol, but I'm afraid polos won't give the protection I want. Anyone! Good suggestions? :)

Find a used saddle. You won't get a quality new saddle for that price...

As for boots, I only use SMB VenTech Elites of Classic Equine Legacy boots.

Polos are great, but do you know how to wrap them? If you don't you can cause a lot of damage to your horse's legs.

Also, always use bell boots when running.

Another thing to consider about boots is are you looking to support the leg or protect against the legs hitting each other? If your horse overreaches, sport boots and polos will do nothing. Splint boots and bell boots would be your best option. However, if your horse is just normal, I would do all four sport boots and then front bells.

I was looking at extra support mainly. :) and I did plan on bell boots too! And I can wrap polos too. As far as saddle, I FOR SURE planned on used. Which brands do you like? What do you think of Dakota's?

Stay awayyy from Dakotas..i think...maybe...sounds familiar. lol

SMB makes some black boots with some pretty cool looking red crosses on them/red boots with black crosses.

Remember with polos, the pattern is going to overlap and your not going to see it.

I like Saddlesmith, Circle Y, Corriente, Teskeys...

I like polos or professionals choice ven tech elites. Mainly Ive been using polos lately, my gelding doesnt really fit a size and so I use them on all of them. I like the Classic Equine bell boots best. Just make sure your wrapping the polos right or there really not worth using if not wrapped correctly.
for pads my opinion for good ones are Impact Gel or Classic Equine, I want a 5 Star or Best Ever. I don't think Dakota barrel saddles are bad either. I like Billy Cook, Tex Tan, Circle Y, Pro Rider brands. There's a fb group you might check out if you have a facebook, called Barrel Saddles For Sale.

For saddles I like Triple Creek, Double J, Stoney, and Running P.

Boots I like Pro Equines, I like the Professional Choice OLD style Elites I'm not a fan of the new VenTechs. Also not a fan of Classic Equine Legacies.

Pads I like 5 Stars, Classic Equine ESP and some of their felt pads are nice.

And I only use Polos on back legs VS front legs because they are a lot thinner then boots and wouldn't prevent an injury from a blunt hard hit from a back foot. Also NO boot OR polo is going to offer support to a 1,200lb animal...

I like the Professional's Choice SMB 3 boots on all 4 legs, and bell boots on the front legs. They don't provide as much support as the studies claim (I actually got copies of the studies from Prof Choice) but they do help a little as far as support is concerned; definately more support than a polo.

I have an Impact Gel pad and love. I've heard great things about 5 star so that's going to be my next purchase next year.

As far as used saddles, I'd look for Circle Y, Billy Cook, Tex Tan, Hereford, Double J, and Corriente.

Professional's Choise VenTech Elites for boots, I'm not a fan of others or polo wraps. Boots offer more support while polos offer almost no support whatsoever.. You also have to remember though that no boot or wrap can really support a horse, they are an added piece of equipment but they aren't fool proof and guaranteed to work.

I love the Classic Equine ESP pads, they're by far my favorite. I've also heard very good things about the Impact Gel and the Best Ever pads..Yes, they're pricey but you get what you pay for.

Like SH and the others have said, I'd look for used saddles..Buying a new saddle for that price and it being high quality isn't realistic. The cheapy saddles on ebay are trash.

Corriente makes custom barrel saddles for around $500 if you're interested in their saddles, I've heard great things about their saddles and a user on the forum (Posiedon) has one that she custom ordered and loves.

I love Impact Gel pads. For boots, I only use Pro Choice SMB Elites.
