Jumping Video Critique
Wound up in third place in this class with less than tenth of a second separating the top three, it was a very competitive class!!!!!
Please critique both horse and rider!!!!

I swear my computer has the biggest issues ever...sorry bout that....hha
Do you suppose you're the type of rider that sees your distances better when the fences are bigger? I ask this, because i struggle with this quite a bit. My trainer threatens to make me ride in "Green Rider" again so that i'm forced to see the distance on the smaller fences. I notice that you're distances aren't as clear and concise as they should be. It looks like you're just canter up, and hoping for the best.
I have my eye trained best from about 3'3" and up... anything under that, and i tend to chip.
I love your horse. he/she is very clear on what the job is, and is totally game! I would love to see this horse jump up. I bet he/she can jump a big fence!
Thanks!!! This is my mare and with her I had to just let her choose her distance or she would stop xD she does her job very well when she makes all the decisions. My gelding on the other hand doesn't believe he can jump unless I say jump, so I choose all my distances with him, but yes I do have an easier time seeing my distances on a bigger jump, especially with him because of his huge stride.
She used to jump really big. Up to the 4'6". I only jumped her up to 4'. But she was super competitive and turned on a dime which made her so much fun to ride in the jumper ring!!!!!
You both know what your job is and look good at it. I think what you should take time to work on, right now to be more correct, to get more balance and be getter set up for the next fence is the bascule over the jump.
I saw her really just jump the fence straight up and over, tense in the neck and back. Grids will help with this. I also think you need to work in being more still in the saddle, work on getting your body more real still. Both you seem slightly tensed....or something of the sort and rush around.
I think it's just time fir you to go back and perfect and make everything look pretty, but correctly :)
You make me want to jump my horse sooooo bad!
Your a great rider, have a stunning mare who trusts you that's for sure!
You make a great team!
Can't wait to see more!
Thanks! I do tend to look tense on her because of the way she moved at times..and she did weird little things that would make me nervous.
As for her jumping so stiffly, it was always the way she jumped, never really had a bascule over the fence. However, after this horse show she did go through some extensive chiropractic work to see if we could loosen that up at all. Still hasn't changed much haha I guess it's just the way she goes.
^ i've seen some pretty competitive jumpers that jumped like... well... deer. Just kinda' up and over with their heads in the air. I'm of the mindset that as long as the rider can ride that kind of jump appropriately, and the horse isn't in pain and it's simply a "style" that the horse happens to have, then whaaaaatever! :)
Thanks you guys!
Just wanted to say I love you horse. I love how she's like "can we just do this?" when you enter the ring. She looks like she really loves to jump.
