The place where I board has recently put in a new indoor arena floor. It needed it BAD. The sand and lime they had in before hadn't been replaced in over 10 years. Me and the other boarder were so excited, they did a very slight increase in board to cover the cost. Well...they put in a new lime base and that was it. There was no mention of sand, and we just assumed they would put sand in. It has now been about 4 months, the wet lime has dried and it is now so dusty it is hard to ride. Me and the other boarder have been gently watering it to keep the lime down but they have now told us no water because it 'makes the lime hard' (well they didn't' tell us there was a note on the dry erase board). It is getting harder and harder to ride without choking on dust. We are going into winter soon and watering will not be an option at all.
The reason I board at this place is because of the indoor, I ride West. Pleasure and compete all year long. Does anyone else have a lime only arena? I'm getting sick of having to wash my hair 3 times when I get home, having to constantly brush off my saddle. It also makes me nervous what I'm and my horse are breathing in.
Thanks in advance!
