First ride on the new horse

Was successfully completed by a 3-year old. I was a little nervous about this horse because I sort of bought her on impulse (after seeing 10 videos) and sight unseen. But, she rides like a champ even though she is only 4 years old. Didn't act up once! Granted, she may be different out on the trails but she did good for us in the pasture today:)

You put a child on a young horse that you know nothing about? Good thing that went well!

Well I had ridden her 30 minutes before he got on. And I was in the saddle the entire time.

Geez.

Undressed and barefoot to boot - have to wonder where you are living that it was warm enough for that level of undress today (perhaps that's just the jealousy talking, as it was cold enough to ice over the puddles here this morning)

Looks like the kid knows what he is doing though lol look at his posture, hand placement, etc...

Definitely adorable!!

If you guys think this is bad, you don't wanna know half my stories LoL :D

I gotta say that I agree with the person who questioned the good sense of putting a child on a horse that you know so little about , and who is so green. I think you will find a lot of folks agree with me, so don't be surprised about that sentiment. However, I am very glad it went well and that the horse has so much promise, so young. you lucked out!

Um...Yikes....

At least put a helmet on the child. It's your choice whether you want to protect your head but don't jeopardize a child's safety on an unfamiliar horse just for pictures.

Definitely congrats to you for breaking the young horse and a successful first ride.

With that said, I dont think I would have put a young child on him without a helmet until the horse had proven many times over that he was level headed.

Hope you don't get overconfident.....horses have a way of being very humbling when it comes to that, and with a little kid with no helmet....hmmm. I won't even let anyone in the barn without proper footwear, no less on the horse. And you in the saddle really makes no difference, IMO. Not the best judgement, but that explains why you thought the price was too high on another thread-you don't live there.
