How do YOU know when your horse is ready to move up levels in eventing?
i want to hear how YOU know when your horse is ready to move up a level in eventing. Does he/she need to win? or just simply go nicely through the 3phases without a problem?
I will not reply to rude comments, this is supposed to be helpful :)
Obviously if the horse is being placed then that is a very good indicator!
Other than that if a horse is going well, is bold and confident across country and jumping clears in the SJ then he could move up.
A lot depends on the riders ability more than the horses.
competitive dressage, clear rounds or rounds with only minor errors, and placing.
my old trainer used to say that when 3/4 of the cross country course looked easy it was time to move up to that level.
I was told it was time to move up when you are consistently finishing on your dressage score alone. It doesn't hurt when all the fences start to look small either!
